explores the idea of "benevolent colonization" in the late eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century America in terms of Native American removal to the West and African American colonization in Africa argues that these colonizations were seen as an opportunity to spread civilization and make Indians and Africans experience "separate but equal" environment
