西尾市岩瀬文庫に蔵される「南颿日録」4冊のうち、「遊万里生手録」を翻刻紹介。大蔵省の役人として琉球に派遣された根本茂樹が記した明治6年1月から同年3月までの日誌で、「琉球処分」が行われる直前の琉球の様子がうかがわれる。
