南アフリカ経済史に関する史料研究は未着手の分野が多い。本研究では、筆者の行った史料研究に基づき、第1にケープタウン文書館収蔵のケープタウン商業会議所史料の紹介、第2に、スタンダード・バンク・ヘリテッジ・センターの文書館に所蔵されている同銀行総支配人報告の概要を紹介したもの(両史料とも、アフリカ経済史研究の一級史料である)。
