1920年代から30年代にかけての近代沖縄の新聞を画像として掲載・刊行した『研究叢書17 植物標本より得られた近代沖縄の新聞』(沖縄県教育委員会発行、2007年)を読んで、近代沖縄の文学に関するエピソードを記述。 目次:時代が見える、積宝と麦門冬、真栄田・伊波の出郷、池宮城美登子の登場、詩集誕生、忘れられた表現者たち、同人誌の諸種、外国作品の紹介、沖縄文界の大御所、浦崎成一の詩業、推測の楽しみ・疑問の氷解。
