本書は、東京大学法学部研究室図書館法制史資料室所蔵「豊田友直日記」の内の天保11～12年(1840-41年)の部分を翻刻したものである。豊田友直(1805-1870年)は天保10年に飛騨郡代に任命される。日記は郡代として飛騨へ旅経つ天保11年4月11日からのものである。日記全体は、他の幕府の官僚の日記と同じく公務を中心に書かれている。
