はじめに、出土資料の集成、出土遺跡の性格および時期等、製作上のプロセスと技法、おわりに。 奄美・沖縄出土のジュゴン製サイコロについて、製作途中のものも含めた出土一覧を提示するとともに、湾曲した骨からどのように完成品に至るのかについて記述し、出土遺跡の分析からジュゴン製サイコロが支配階層の遊具であったとする。
